This route is just a longer version of the Warburton South Gravel Loop which covers the same ground only starts is Woori Yallock and adds on the O’Shannassy Aqueduct Trail which is a brilliant ride.
These gravel roads became apparent to me whilst perusing “The Great Forest Way” bikepacking route by Liam O’Connor.
I thought to myself, I have done some good gravel in the Warburton area but I have never done these roads before so I must test them out. Boy am I glad I did!
Whilst this route is very heavy on the climbing, (you’ll do about 1000m vert. in the first 30 – 35km), the gravel roads are simply superb!
Super smooth, non-technical gravel, the odd punchy climb, sublime forest and you’ll see less than a handful of cars. Check out the pictures for some more inspiration!
