Starting in Bright, the Mt Porepunkah Loop is a challenging gravel climb not to be taken lightly and is a fantastic little one dayer in one of the nicest regions to ride in Victoria.
Although it states 1000m elevation over 39km, its more like 1000m over 17km as you begin to ascend pretty much immediately before coming to an abrupt stop at the peak and then tackling the subsequent descent.
What you will find is some amazing gravel roads all very doable on standard gravel tyres, beautiful scenery, elevated views and much of the track to yourself.
You can also do the route in reverse although I’m yet to give this a crack.
From what I’ve been told, its much easier tackling the ascent from the Bright side.
