A three day itinerary to Castlemaine created as a special “foxpedition” for The Roaming Foxes.
Day 1: Starting at Halcyon Days, an infrastructure tour of inner and outer Melbourne (think cheese sticks, bridges and canals) via The Moonee Ponds Creek Trail stopping for coffee at Mayflour Cafe in delightful West Meadows.
From there, the trail takes us towards Melbourne Airport where we will climb up to Gellibrand Hill and pose for photos with The Melbourne Airport and City in the background.
You’ll then pass through Riddell’s Creek & finally into Gisborne for the night.
Day 2: Leaving Gisborne, we’ll continue north through Macedon and The Macedon Pine Plantation, passing Woodend and detouring around Hanging Rock.
Some nice gravel roads ensue, before stopping for lunch in Kyneton and pushing on though some nice mixed terrain roads into Castlemaine.
Day 3: Prior to departing Castlemaine we’ll stop in at Kaffeehaus for a traditional Austrian breakfast before hitting The Castlemaine to Maldon railtrail and a mish-mash of gravel roads into Kangaroo Flats and then greater Bendigo for a hot lap of Lake Weeroona.
