This route is a mixed terrain Audax ride that features every year in February traversing the unique and diverse landscapes that are The Macedon and Cobaw Ranges.
Starting in New Gisborne, there’s not much time to muck around as you start climbing Alton Rd (mini Baw Baw) almost immediately up to the summit of Mount Macedon where radio towers, a surveying cairn of significance and views of surroundings await.
Descend with views over and past Hanging Rock into the small township of Newham before exploring The Cobaw Ranges and stopping for lunch in the quaint town of Lancefield.
Country fields and more gorgeous gravel before climbing back over The Macedon Ranges and into Gisborne.
Audax Australia Cycling Club is a non-profit national cycling organisation specialising in non-competitive long-distance bicycle rides from 50 to 1200 km. You can find more events on their event calendar.
