Very accessible From Melbourne, The Lysterfield Park Gravel Loop is very much “a choose your own adventure ride” with trails and offshoots running all throughout the park, it being predominantly a mountain bike park.
While there are plenty of places in Lysterfield Park that you would do well to avoid on a gravel bike, we have mapped the roads that will take you the ways that will ensure you have the most fun.
The intermediate route takes in some extra climbing around the back of Lysterfield Park with two brief, yet steep hike-a-bike sections up Quarry Rd with sweeping views of the Boral Quarry and a smooth, fast and fun descent back down.
The easy route cuts through the park on champagne gravel walking tracks, however bear in mind there is still a pinchy climb or two up the Lysterfield Hills Track, although this is where you will find the best views of the ride.
Albeit a small route, you can link up the Lystefield Park Gravel Loop with the Djerring Rail Trail, Dandenong Creek Trail or Eastlink Trail for some extra km’s depending on which direction you are coming from.
For those a bit further out or not wanting the extra km’s in the legs, the ride conveniently starts from Dandenong Train Station – there’s plenty of car parking there too at the location that the ride starts from on the map.
