A lovely little loop that showcases Laurieton, Lake Queen, the western boundary of Middle Brother National Park, Johns River and Crowdy Bay National Park.

Leaving from the sleepy town of Laurieton, you’ll before long find yourself on a fantastic lakeside track aptly named “The Lakeside Track”, which as the name once again suggests, follows the edge of the lake (Lake Queen).

Head north and you’ll ride through some country gravel roads through to Batar and eventually onto Western Boundary Rd which follows the outskirts of Middle Brother National Park.
The roads through here aren’t maintained as well as the former as they don’t see a huge amount of traffic (we didn’t see any). You’ll find softer sections in the opening few km’s, especially after rain.

A lovely road section will take you past Middle Brother (mountain) and into Johns River where if you are lucky, you’ll find a coffee van that has capacity for burgers and other snacks also. Not sure on opening times but does appear to be there most days.

Gravel roads out of Johns River ensue until you reach Diamond Head Rd with fantastic views looking out to Diamond Head for a long and flat stretch of gravel. Mostly smooth gravel with the occasional pot hole and corrugation before heading back into Laurieton.

Not a long route but lots of gravel to contend with, so don’t expect to race through it.
