If you’re looking for a nice and moderate gravel spin through the Greenwedge, you’re in for a treat with this tasty little loop starting in Hurstbridge and straddling the endless back country gravel road network that’ll take you out the back through Strathewen and Yan Yean.

Coffee and lunch in Whittlesea before some single track out of town, past the Yan Yean Reservoir and through the Mernda estates before finding your way again on the gravel network through to Hurstbridge.

Notes:

The ride begins at Hurstbridge train station
You’ll find brunch in Whittlesea around 50km’s into the ride
The majority of the gravel roads are very smooth and in very good condition with some single track out the back of Whittlesea through to Mernda which is very rideable
Pinchy at times but nothing unridable
This route takes you through some amazing countryside and country gravel roads out the back of Hurstbridge, Strathewen and Yan Yean
Watch for roos at all times of the day, there’s plenty to be had
