Was a bit of a Hail Mary stumbling upon this route as I had no idea that anything existed in this small corner of The Alpine Region.

It turns out that Lake Buffalo is an absolutely stunning location popular for fishing, swimming and all-round lake leisure. Furthermore, the views looking up towards The Horn at Mt Buffalo are about as scenic as they come.

Park your car at Lake Buffalo (there’s a loo there) & circle around the lake to Lake Buffalo – Whitfield Rd where 25km of seriously good gravel through The Black Range Forest Area awaits you.

Coffee, breakfast or lunch in Whitfield at little place called Hobbledehoy. You simply must drop in, it’s a German themed cafe that does awesome food, great coffee and even has a cocktail happy hour.
I’d never heard or Whitfield before, but its obviously a bit of a well kept secret and an extremely cute little town.

The roads on the way back are just as good as the roads on the way in, passing through another cute town of Cheshunt which is full of wineries, goods and produce.

Closing in again on Lake Buffalo, Mount Buffalo will start to peak its head over the horizon and you’ll take in some fantastic views on the way back to your car.
