Bicycle Network is a not-for-profit organisation. Becoming a Member, joining our events and making a donation means you’re supporting our behaviour change and advocacy initiatives. Our mission is to make it easier for everyone to ride a bike, every day.
Peaks Challenge is an event run by Bicycle Network that challenges you (the rider) to ascend three different peaks (as the name suggests) in The Great Alpine Region, North Eastern Victoria.
Those three peaks being The Tawonga Gap, Mt Hotham & The Back of Falls climbs – each with their own quirky personality and set of challenges.
Certainly not a ride for the faint of heart, this ride covers 235km and a whopping 4500m of elevation in a single day of riding with riders tasked to achieve such a feat in under 13hrs.
Bicycle Network put on an absolutely fantastic event and I strongly suggest you complete this ride as part of the event – most roads are closed, there’s plenty of food, water, rider support and medical aid provided, also, it’s a fantastic weekend shared with like-minded individuals.
Having said that, the roads are always there and you can tackle this route whenever you like.
I would strongly advise against the winter months as there will be snow and lots of it.
Should you want to take it a bit easier, Omeo is a great place to pull up stumps for the night to tackle the remainder of the route on fresher legs.
