An extremely relaxed gravel and bike path route just outside of Melbourne starting along the Capital City Trail before hitting the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail via “The Cheesestick”, through West Meadows for a coffee, into and around The Woodlands Historic Park and up Gellibrand Hill before a stop off at Cannoli Bar in Avondale Heights and meandering the Maribyrnong River Trail & Footscray Rd Bike Path back into Albert Park.
Perfect for a longer group roll or if you are just needing to get some km’s in the legs and want to have a bit of an explore around Melbourne at the same time.
The Woodlands Historic Park is a preserved landscape and a fascinating glimpse into what early settlers would have seen in the early 1800’s (with the obvious exception being that the sweeping views of the city or Melbourne Airport from Gellibrand Hill wouldn’t have been there at the time).
Mayflour in West Meadows and The Cannoli Bar in Avondale Heights are perfect places to drop in for a coffee or top up with snacks.
